This week we have an update on how the Faith, Hope and Love Avenues are going. Thanks so much to the Avenue champions and their assistants. I will also share a short video of our first ever Kids Day Camp at GCI St. Albert. Our text for this week affirms our relationship with Jesus and that He is faithful to the end.

Word from the Pastor
This week our theme continues looking at sin. We will focus on Romans 6:12-23 where Paul says “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal bodies, so that you obey their desires." I will also begin a two-part series on God’s Glory. The term for glory is "kavod," which actually means weight. You can think of it as a presence, a gravity that is felt. I’m excited to share with you how this term kavod begins in Genesis and travels all through the Bible, pointing to how God’s glory will be the reality we will experience in the Kingdom.

This week our theme is God has freed us from sin. Now sin is a very interesting discussion. If you speak about it to the average person, you might get some looks. “Sin, what is that?” “I’m a good person”. Among people that go to church or are religious they might have an appreciation of the depts of the word. This was a topic I spent some time on writing papers on at college. Sin means missing the mark. God is holy-other. Meaning He is far above us all, and He is literally a blazing fire. His appearance or glory translated as "Kavod” means weight. When He entered the temple, He literally filled it, a heaviness, a presents. We also use the idea holy-other, meaning He is so far above and beyond us. That’s why sin is an issue, when we sin, we miss the mark and sin is at odds with his glory and holiness. Luckily we have our high priest Jesus that atones for us so we can stand before God and have a relationship with Him.

This week our theme is God proves his love for us. Our relationship with God is grounded firmly on grace, as a gift; it is not something we earn. Grace is God’s generous love that gives forgiveness, new life, and strength — before we deserve it and apart from our performance. And grace is grounded in what Jesus has already done for us in his life, death, and resurrection. This is such good news! From our sermon last week we looked at Abraham and the special relationship he had with Melchizedek our high priest. We are currently in the “Church Era” of God’s plan of salvation, we were live under this grace that is a precious gift. Let’s continue to give all of our hearts, minds and souls to Him as we go “deeper, deeper and deeper” in this relationship.
